Custom Sewing Fabric Requirements

We can sew any of our items using fabric which you provide. (Please, no slippery, sheer or knit fabrics!)

Here are the yardage requirements (using 44" - 45" wide fabric). No extra allowance has been made for pattern matching or shrinkage. If you prefer to pre-wash your fabric before sending it to us, please also iron it so that is reasonably flat (so that we can easily work with it). Perfection in ironing isn't required, since you will need to fold it anyway, in order to ship it to us.

Placemats (any shape except heart-shaped):
for each pair of placemats, 14" for the front side and 14" for the back.
Or, if you would like both sides the same, 14" will do both the front and back of one                                     placemat

Heart-shaped placemats:
For each pair of placemats, 16" for the front side and 16" for the
back. Or if you would like both sides the same, 16" is enough fabric
to do both the front and back of a single placemat.
Napkins (finished size approximately 17" square): 18" will yield two napkins

Table runners (without ruffles) up to about 43" in length and up to 16" wide (though we think 15" is a nice width) you will need 1/2 yard for each side (1 yard total)

Table runners longer than 43" will require a piece of fabric as long as
the desired finished length, plus 4" for seams / straightening. One
such piece will be enough to do both sides of the runner; if you
would like a different fabric for the reverse, you will need another
piece of fabric the same length as the first.

Shower curtain, standard 72" x 72" size (will have two vertical panels joined by a center seam):  4.5 yards of any fabric which is at least 43" wide.
For longer Curtains: for every extra inch of length you will need two extra inches of fabric.
For wider curtains (up to about 82" in width, depending on your fabric) there is no                           change in yardage since you will still need only two panels. For widths from 83" -  123"             you will need half again as much yardage because you will need a third
panel. For widths 124" -  164" you will need twice as much yardage as for a
standard width curtain, because you will have four panels.
If you need a curtain that is wider and longer, you should compute the length adjustment          first, and then figure if you need to multiply that result to accommodate your width.

Window curtains, chair cushions: please contact Dana Zilka, who sews these.

If you need help figuring your yardage requirements, please contact us. Unfortunately, we cannot help you estimate yardage requirements for products that we do not make (such as quilts or full-length draperies).
